Our country remains one of the world’s leading exporters of olive oil, right after Spain. According to ISMEA’s processing of ISTAT data, in the first seven months of 2024, Italian exports grew by 7 percent in volume and 61 percent in value, exceeding €1.9 billion. For Italian olive oil companies, the foreign channel is an important outlet, and it is essential to nurture opportunities for exchange with the main importing and consuming countries of olive oil such as the United States, Italy’s top customer with 29 percent of volume and 31 percent of revenue. This is one of the goals of EVOLIO Expo, the new international B2B fair organized by Senaf and supported by the Department of Agriculture, Rural and Environmental Development of the Region of Puglia, Pugliapromozione (Regional Tourism Agency) and the National Association Città dell’Olio, which will be held from January 30 to February 1, 2025, at the Fiera del Levante.
In particular, the presence of specialized operators during the three days, such as import/export managers of distribution and representative companies, is a great opportunity to showcase the excellence of our producers. Italy can count on a very high olive oil quality and is distinguished by the variety of olives (more than 500 genotypes) and the number of extra virgin olive oils with denominations (42 DOP and 8 IGP) [1].
Consolidating its role as a B2B trade fair, EVOLIO Expo offers oil producers the opportunity to present their unique offerings—built on tradition, quality, and territorial identity-—to key target markets, strengthening relationships and opening up new business opportunities.
In addition, the fair facilitates strategic connections not only between manufacturers and buyers but also with a vast network of key industry professionals. These include purchasing and product managers in the large-scale retail trade and managers in the Horeca world, out-of-home professionals such as chefs and wait staff that use and promote EVO oil, and many others.
EVOLIO Expo will also offer in-depth moments aimed at industry professionals through conferences, training courses, panel tests, talks on oil tourism and demonstration areas involving associations, institutions, exhibitors and visitors.
“EVOLIO Expo was created to support and enhance the Italian olive oil sector,” says Gaetano Frulli, President of Nuova Fiera del Levante. “The event will be a strategic platform to foster dialogue between producers, Italian and international buyers and institutions, creating new opportunities for collaboration and development. Our aim is to support Italian companies so that they can better compete in the global market, enhancing the excellence of our oil and strengthening Italy’s image as a leader in the sector.”
“In recent months, Italy has confirmed its strategic role on the international scene, with exports exceeding €1.9 billion,” says Ivo Nardella, president of Tecniche Nuove Group and Senaf. “The Italian olive production fabric is composed of so many excellences that need to be enhanced on global markets, and it is necessary to promote a culture about a product that is not just a food, but a sign of history, identity and symbol of Made in Italy. Excellence, culture, the Mediterranean and quality: this is what identifies EVOLIO Expo and the entire Italian olive oil industry.“
